Homecoming Memories

I recently looked at my pictures from Wofford Homecoming 2012 - guaranteed to bring back good memories!  This year, we stayed with our friends Katie and Lance.  Katie was my college roommate for 2 years, and we studied abroad in London together.  The really exciting part about staying with Katie and Lance is their baby girl, Genevieve (or not so baby anymore...she'll turn 1 in April!).  I took Katie aside from the tailgate to snap a few pictures of her and Genevieve.  Genevieve is such a HAPPY and sweet baby.  I loved being able to hold her - she even fell asleep in my lap while I gave her a bottle that night.

Terrier Ball Winners 2010

Every year I donate an item to the Terrier Ball Silent Auction, which is a fundraiser event for Wofford College Athletics that is held during Homecoming.  My first year I donated some photographs of Old Main that I took (typical and not very creative, but I was pressed for time).  Last year and this year as well, I donate my services of Meredith Daniels Photography.  This family received my services as gift from their father/father-in-law who graduated Wofford in 1969.

We spent the morning at the North Carolina Arboretum.  This place is soooo beautiful!

Meet the family:  Dad, Mom, William (3 years), and Kate (1 year)

William was able to flip a switch from being camera shy to loving the camera.  It was funny when he wanted his picture taken, he would get super close to my lens and stare it into (which made some very funny wide angle shots).  At other times, which is very typical of children he didn't want his picture taken and didn't want the camera near him.  I always learn a new game when I photograph children.  Sometimes it's a game I makeup on the spot or sometimes the child teaches me a new game/song.  It's good to build my bag-of-tricks so I can get more of that "I love the camera" time with kids.  Here is a sweet smile from one of those moments.

Kate was a cute, cute just turned 1 year old.  She wasn't having her best of days, but you can't predict what days a baby will be happy.  Luckily food did the trick here, and we were able to capture some of her sweet smiles as well.

I love the picture of Kate trying to climb these stone benches.  I always try to picture how big a step/bench would have to be for us adults to climb like that.

It was a beautiful morning at the Arboretum.  The morning had a slight chill, but it warmed up and we were able to capture some great moments and family pictures.

Cupcake Surprise!

This is a fabulous idea for the end of a 1 year old shoot!  I love it, and so did Ella!  It also helps if you have the cutest homemade outfit from your great-grandmother to wear.  I was excited when Elizabeth told me she had a cupcake for Ella to eat as the last part of the session.  I love that Elizabeth let her get messy, and just enjoy the sweet, sugary cupcake!

Sweet Ella!

Hi guys!  I am ready for the weekend!  Sam and I don't have any plans, but that's the best part about the weekend, we just get to hang out with one another.  I've got a pork shoulder roasting in the oven, and tomorrow night I will make pork tinga with it, a recipe I learned from Dad.

Onto to the cute pictures, I have a few pictures to share with you of Ella.  I love this little series of Ella with her mom, Elizabeth.  Most parents that I work with book the session to get pictures of their children, but I always insist on at least one shot with your child.  And I think these photographs of Mom and Daughter are so sweet!

I thought this was a cute little series of Ella crawling.  She loved it up on this surface, the stones were smooth (unlike the concrete of a sidewalk), but the sound of her little knees scooting/scraping along worried me slightly (I'm going to be a big worry wart mommy!).  If you're a Wofford grad, you might notice this is at the top of Old Main and the other pictures are on the steps of Old Main : )  And yes those are elephants on her skirt, there is child character with books and stuff called Ella the Elephant, very cute!

Stay tuned throughout the weekend, I've got a fun surprise to share with you from Ella's 1 year old session!  Happy Friday!
