Wofford at the NCAA Tournament

Wofford made history this past basketball season.  If you haven't heard of Wofford, then you might just want to move onto to another blog now, but you're missing out on a great family.  Little ol' Wofford College from Sparkle City, SC (real name: Spartanburg, SC), made it to the NCAA tournament!  But going back a little bit further, the Wofford Terriers won the Southern Conference Basketball Tournament.  That was a first for the program as well!  By winning the SoCon Tournament, that gave them an automatic spot in the NCAA tournament.

Here's a little fun fact for you (which we gladly shared with the Maryland fans sitting in front of us at the tournament): Wofford's student enrollment is about 1,500 students!  We gave the University of Wisconsin a run for their money (and I would like to point out that they have over 40,000 students!).  When I attended college there 2002 - 2006 (no I'm not ashamed of my age...yet), we were pushing 1,200 students.  At that point, we could say that our average SAT score was higher than our student enrollment.  Given the fact that I chose Wofford for it's academics, I just love that little piece of information.  My husband, on the other hand, who was a member of the basketball team, hated that fact.  My husband is a smart man, but I guess that little tidbit of information took away from the sports side of the college.

Anyways, back to the game, it was very close and unfortunately we lost by a few points, but we were ahead by a few points with about 3 minutes to go.  Coach Young and his team had a great game, except for the loss.  If the game winner was determined by the enthusiasm of the fans, then Wofford would have won hands down!

This was our view prior to finding some unused Temple University seats from the game before us.

Our new seats put us right behind the Wofford team bench and looking at the main Wofford crowd.  Don't they look good?!
