Fun Family!

Here are more pictures from the DeJesus Family shoot.  We had a lot of fun taking these pictures.  They were troopers because they put up with heat with lots of smiles and laughter!

First up, here is Kyle and his dog Ollie.

Sitting on the dock of the lake : )   I was hoping to end this session with everyone jumping in the water with their clothes on, but they were going out to dinner afterward, so that was a no-go.  But next time they said they would come prepared!

I really love this image.  They thought I was crazy when I told them I wanted them to hold hands and run from the dock to their house.  But don't they look like a cute, happy family?!

This is a yummy foot!

One of my last pictures of the day was also the first frown of the day, and on that note, we're done : )

Another sneak peak for the DeJesus Family

I'm having so much fun editing these pictures!  This family is full of love and laughter!  I have a whole series of them sitting on their dock having a good time!  It was hard to choose just one to post.

This is Rhea, my connection to the DeJesus Family.  Because of her I photographed Nara and Jeff for their engagement session which then led to Nara's pregnancy, and 6 month old Ayla pictures!  I'm so thankful to have a wonderful friend like Rhea in my life.  It was joy photographing their family!  Oh and the guy in the picture is Rhea's boyfriend, Roberto, oh I mean Jonathan : )  He reminds me of Roberto on The Bachelorette (which is probably why I'm on Team Roberto for Ali).  Aren't they a gorgeous couple?!!

I love "the love" in this picture

I have been wanting to post this picture for awhile, and I'm just now getting around to it.  It's one of my favorites from Ayla's 6 month session.  If you didn't know this, I'm a big fan of Tamara Lackey's work (and Rachel Garrison too (my sister-in-law), who is no longer working there since she is expecting her bundle of joy any day now), hence the reason I hired Tamara to shoot Sam and I's wedding.  In her book The Art of Children's Portrait Photography, she talks about the reason she got into photography.  One of the main reasons was that she was on the hunt for the perfect portrait of her family (and by perfect she's not talking about the posed, structured portrait that your family has done by Olin Mills).  If you're interested portrait photography, it's a must buy book, and she explains herself much better than I can.  Whenever I'm given the honor to photography families and children, I really try to capture the true emotions in front of my camera.  It's a work in progress for me, I always walk away from a photo session with many lessons learned, which is a good thing!

So onto the picture, I just LOVE the way Nara is looking at her daughter in this picture, and Jeff looks completely lost in his happiness at the moment.  Ayla isn't even looking at the camera, but to me it doesn't matter.  This photo just shouts out love to me!

On a completely different note, Nara gave me a great compliment, I have to share!  Ayla as you can see has beautiful porcelain skin.  At the moment it doesn't appear that she has any of the DeJesus/Puerto Rico tan skin.  Nara's comment about this was something along the line of, "hopefully Ayla can pull off pale like Meredith."  Haha, too funny!  I read in a fashion magazine like 5 - 8 years ago that "pale is in," and I've been saying that ever since.  So people reading this, it's mid-July I know you're outside, make sure you wear sunscreen and protect your skin : )

I promise to write more about this wonderful and fun family, but for now, here is one picture to hold you over.

New York again and Little Italy

I'm back to showing you some pictures from New York City.  First up, a little humor.

Nichole was a little bit thirsty...

And so was the horse!

Nichole was just pretending, don't worry, she thought it would make for a funny picture and it did!  The street dancers across the street thought she was really drinking water and they started yelling at us.  We yelled back and showed them our cameras trying to convey the message, "we're just playing around."  But, I don't think they understood us, which made it even more funny : )

Now on to dinner that night in Little Italy.  Here is the four of us at some restaurant that supposedly was the first place to serve pizza in NYC.

And after dinner, Rhea and Ryn were very excited about Pinkberry.  Nichole and I opted out.  Sorry to all of the Pinkberry lovers, I would just rather have the real deal ice cream and all of the calories that come with it.

Lucky for us, Little Italy was having a street fair!  We had fun walking around and taking in all of the sights.

The night worked out perfectly, we happened to be very close to the bar Scout in Sex in the City.  Scout is the bar that Steve and Aiden opened together.  In real life the bar is called O'Nieals.  I really liked this place.  It was quiet inside, comfortable seating, we could talk, and their chocolate martini was great!

Rhea, Ryn, and Nichole don't be mad at me for posting this, not the best picture, but it's entertaining!

Well that's all for now.  I do have 1 more day in NYC to show you.  So far all of the pictures were from our first day, Friday!  We did the Top of the Rock, Central Park, and Little Italy.
